You may have noticed a little link at the top of this site labeled book club. One of my goals when starting this website was to create a community where designers and makers could come together and discuss business related books and concepts. Its partly selfish – I always find myself wanting to discuss what I’m reading with others. But I also want to help others read business books and figure out to apply those principals to their own craft-based businesses.
The CMBA Book Club will officially launch in March. I want to build up the readership here so that we can have better discussion, but I also know that February is a busy show month for a lot of people (including me) and I want to be able to make sure we all have an adequate time to devote to the project. The book for March is going to be Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die by Chip Heath and Dan Heath- one of my all time favorites. There is so much in the book that can apply to your marketing efforts, but I also want to look at the principles in the book as a way to evaluate product ideas.
You can feel free to read ahead, but as we get a little closer to March, I’ll be posting a reading list to help keep everybody on track. I’ll also be setting up a discussion-based blog so that those who are reading along can discuss their views. It should be a great way to keep everybody motivated and reading!
I’m so excited for this project to start, and of course, I welcome any suggestions or ideas you might have to make the CMBA Book Club as great as possible. (Oh, and I’m always looking for book suggestions – tell us want you want to read!)
sounds great! I have that book but have not started it yet.
