now available! The CMBA Guide to Wholesale and Trade Shows

The CMBA Guide to Wholesale and Trade ShowsToday I’m so excited to finally announce the launch of my very first ebook – The Crafting an MBA Guide to Wholesale and Trade Shows!

I’ve been hard at work the last few months putting together this extremely comprehensive guide to selling your work wholesale and exhibiting at trade shows.  I’ve taken everything I’ve learned over the last few years of running my own business, selling wholesale, and exhibiting at trade shows, and created this guide to help you do the same for your business.

The book is broken down into two parts.  Part 1 takes you through all the steps of getting your business wholesale ready – pricing your products, setting wholesale terms, creating line sheets and order forms, and contacting potential stores.  Part 2 focuses on exhibiting at trade shows – finding the right shows, pre-show planning and marketing, designing your booth, interacting with buyers at the show, and so much more!

Awesome! I can’t wait to read this! I’m starting up a small business and your insight into the homegrown business world + beyond has been really helpful to me. Thanks Megan!

  4. Oh my gosh, congratulations! I’ve been dying to read this book since you first mentioned it, and I’ll definitely be buying my copy today. 🙂

  6. Trying to “buy” you e-book but links are not working. Please help!

  7. Megan,

I am interested in your book but it is a lot more expensive than I thought. I have never purchased an e book before, but was under the assumption that they would be less expensive than a regular book. And actually I can’t remember the last time I paid more than $25 for a book other than a college text book.

Please tell me more about your book and e books in general. Will you publishing a paper addition anytime soon?

Sorry if this seemed too blunt, thanks for your understanding.

    Melissa

  8. Melissa,

I think this is an extremely fair question. I would say that, in general, the price of ebooks varies greatly. I have seen ebooks for as little as $5 or $10, and as much as $97.

I did a lot of research when I was working on my ebook in terms of what the price should be. Ultimately, I chose this price for two reasons. 1. The information in the ebook are things I learned through trial and error and spending thousands of dollars exhibiting at trade shows. A lot of this information is not readily available until you are in the trade show circuit, and even then, not everyone is willing to share what they’ve learned with you. 2. If you apply the information in this book, you can make a lot of money. It’s not unheard of to make $30, $50, or even $100,000 dollars in annual sales selling wholesale. My thought was that $39 was a small amount for such a potentially large return on investment.

I understand that $39 may seem expensive or out of reach for a book. But my hope is that you don’t see it as the cost of a book, but as a tool that can greatly increase revenue for your business.

I am looking into using a print-on-demand service like lulu.com to create a paper edition of the book, but I’m not sure when that will be available. I expect the price to be comparable to the ebook.

    Hope this helps!

  9. I thought the price was fair – ebooks generally run between $39-97! You’re not just selling virtual pages – you’re selling your hard earned expertise. I definitely enjoyed reading it, and will be referring to the trade show section many times again! Thanks for a great ebook!

  10. Thanks Megan,

That definitely helped me understand things better. I’ll look at it more as a class or workshop than a book– and like Brenda said it is your time and experience that we are paying for. I’ll put it on my list of things to buy. And let my friends who were just apart of the new Northland Flavor wholesale show for northern Minnesota and Wisconsin know about it too.

  11. Congratulations! Did you write about specific tradeshows, or more generally? Thanks.

  12. Looks like a great read!

If and when you’re looking to print hard copies, I really liked my experience using MagCloud.com. It’s a great deal for printing saddle-stitched full color copies.

  13. Loved the ebook! thanks for your insight on an intimidating subject.

  14. Loved it! Helped me to realize how far I’ve come in one short year, that I am ready for wholesale, and almost ready for the tradeshows. One step at a time… Thanks again for all the great info!
