Hi there! I’m designer, metalsmith, and educator Megan Auman and I teach artists and makers how to profit from their creativity. I firmly believe that art, craft, and design make the world a better place, which is why I hate to see artists and makers undervaluing their work.
Whether that’s underpricing, burning out, or not marketing or selling to their full potential because they “don’t want to bother people,” I want to see artists and makers ditch the guilt and fear and start making real money from their work.
Here at Artists & Profit Makers, I share business advice I’ve learned running my eponymous jewelry line over the past seventeen years – everything from pricing to wholesale to product photography to yes, sales and marketing.
But more than that, I help artists and makers bring their businesses into Alignment so you can build a business that makes you money AND makes you happy!
fantastic presentation. I watched it with my 1 year old sitting on my knee and we both laughed at the slide with the mum and baby. How true!
Awesome Megan! I’ll be sharing this with my Fort Worth Etsy street team.
Well done, Megan! This was very encouraging to watch. Keep up the great work. –Megan Winn
those are some serious numbers! let hope the ACC is listening too!
Great video! I hope the powers that be in Baltimore were listening. I especially like the microlending idea – so true that many of us would love a few thousand dollars to work with. Thanks!
Nicely done! It can’t be easy to cram so much good information into a five-minute speech. Good stuff.
After looking at a few of the blog posts on your site, I truly like your way of wrnitig a blog. I added it to my bookmark site list and will be checking back soon. Take a look at my website too and tell me what you think.
I like your mention of micro-lending, it can mean so much for the small creative business owner. I also liked the idea of using vacant spaces and sharing with other entrepreneurs so one can share knowledge. About micro-lending, it strikes me that there is a lot of this going on for second or third world countries but not as much, I think, for local businesses. Wouldn’t it be great to have a micro lending website like Kiva but for creatives/makers?
Thank you Megan for bringing more awareness and attention to the craft business and asking excellent questions; especially to business leaders and funders.
One thing I would suggest is to keep your intonation or pitch consistent, sometimes I found it hard to focus on what you were saying because the pitch of your voice would change. When you stated the facts of craft business/manufacturers your voice wasn’t distracting.
your enthusiasm is fantastic!
