Over at the Ponoko blog, Chris Anderson, editor-in-chief of Wired magazine, has been sharing his 10 rules for maker businesses. I’ve been a big fan of Chris’s writing since I first read The Long Tail, and I couldn’t agree more with his tips. Especially, Rule #9 – marketing is your job.
As the owner of a crafts business, you have to wear many hats. Designer, manufacturer, sales rep, bookkeeper, receptionist. And one hat that you can’t afford to ignore is the role of marketer. Thanks to the growing array of Internet marketplaces, it’s never been easier to start a business. But it’s more difficult than ever to get your brand out there and build a successful business. That’s why marketing is critical.
Of course, you know this. You know that without a strong marketing plan your business can’t grow. But you aren’t quite sure what that marketing plan should look like for your business. You need some solid marketing advice geared specifically towards your needs.
That’s why I’m so excited to announce that I’ll be running the Marketing for Makers e-course again starting in January.
I learned a lot running the first course, and I’ll be adding even more great stuff the next time around. It was great to see how the class participants were able to define their brands, understand their target customers, and figure out which strategies worked for them.
I’ll be opening registration in December, and if you want to be the first to know about the class (and get it at a great price) make sure you sign-up for the Marketing for Makers pre-launch list below.
PS. If you can’t see the form, you can sign-up for the list here.
I took Megan’s Marketing For Makers course and I have to say it was fantastic!
I am working on making some big changes that this course helped me to see were a necessity.
Thanks so much for all your help Megan!
I also took this course recently. In fact, while I am “making” I still listen to the classes & gain valuable information each time I listen. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who is trying to grow their brand and just needs some good, solid practical advice. This course was invaluable in providing one place to gain insight into e-mail marketing, boosting your conversion rates, pitching to the press, and so much more. I feel like I finally have a clear roadmap to help my brand grow! 🙂
