thanks for a great first year!

Last week, I officially passed the one year mark for Crafting an MBA.  It’s been an amazing year.  I had no idea when I started this blog what the reaction would be, or that there was so much of a need.  And so I want to say THANK YOU for all your support, for reading, and for giving me a reason to keep writing.  I love knowing that what I do here (and here) helps others pursue their dreams.

Writing this blog has also helped my own business tremendously.  In the last year, I feel like I’ve refocused my business and am on the path I need to be on.  I’m excited to dive into 2011 with everything I’ve learned in 2010.

So once again, THANK YOU.  Whether you’ve been reading since the beginning, or are just finding the site, I appreciate you being here.

Here’s a little round-up of some of the most popular posts of the last year.  Enjoy!

creating a culture of profit

designing sticky products, part 1

skill, price, and Etsy as business incubator

Etsy and the culture of cheap

what are you the best in the world at?

why your craft business gets stuck

how to use Etsy as a launch pad

why I don’t do craft shows (but why you might want to)

running your business vs. pursuing your hobby

why you shouldn’t pay yourself (and other myths about profit)

THANK YOU! You have a great blog, and I read it every day for your fresh perspective, timely topics and practical business advice. I have used your business planner, and it has been very helpful to get everything on paper and focus on the important stuff.

Congratulations on a great first year, and here’s to many more!

  2. Congratulations on your first year! I look forward to what you have in-store for us, your readers, in the coming year.

  3. Thank YOU Megan! Your blog has been instrumental to my thinking about my craft as a business. Many of the things you’ve written about on your blog have been influential in the business plan I’m now writing. Thank you for sharing what you’ve learned, looking forward to the next year!

  4. All great posts, but my favorite was probably “running your business vs. pursuing your hobby.”

More than any other blog on creative businesses, this is the one where I consistently feel that you’ve nailed it with each post. Thanks, and keep it up.

  5. Thank you Megan and congratulations! That you have successfully created this blog so well is as much inspiration as the posts. I look forward to seeing what the new year brings. Excellent work 🙂

  8. Congrats Megan and thanks for providing all this great food for thought for the business side of craft!

  9. I’ve been surfing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be a lot more useful than ever before.
