what are your goals for 2011?

It’s a new year, and that means you’ve probably set some goals for where you want your business to go in 2011.  I know I have.

Setting goals is important, but your goals can only take you so far without a plan of attack.  And I want to help.  I want to make sure I’m providing content here on CMBA that helps you meet your business goals.

So please share in the comments:

What are your business goals for 2011?

How do you plan on achieving them?

  1. I have a business that is less than a year old so I foresee this to be a year of great gains and challenges.

    My business goals are:

    To steadily build a monthly revenue that can fully support both myself and my partner.

    To establish our business as the go to for art marketing advice in our local area.

    To build our seminars and events to the point of being able to support a two-day marketing workshop.

    To achieve all this we are creating strategies to build our online presence, networking with local art organizations, holding seminars and events to share our knowledge, and generally making ourselves a visible part of the community.

    We face the challenge of being able to get our brand and message out to enough of our target market, providing the types of services that are most needed and wanted, and growing the business at a pace that we can sustain but also support our goals.

    All in all I look forward to the challenges and triumphs in the year ahead.

  2. My goals for fallenpeach are simple this year :

    make money as a business, continue to list at least three items in the shop a week (at least), and reboot our website. I’m sure more goals will come along, but for now these feel good.

  3. Time Management is Money Management… Goal 1, delegate every hour of the day…
    Goal 2 ~ Tap into my prosperity hormone…Goal 3 Get rid of Shyness!
    Goal 4 ~ Collaborate with other women, and realize success!

  4. My goal is to approach more business about selling my items and find alternate venues to sell my jewelry other than online.

  5. I have about a million goals this year, but I’ve only written down and made actionable a handful. Top for business is networking more and learning to speak freely about myself and my work. Top for homelife is doing something nice and thoughtful for my husband once a week (or daily); I think we lose ourselves in our respective careers too much if we don’t make each other a priority. Thanks for all the advice you give!

  6. My major challenge this year is to somehow balance my increasing demand with my other full-time job, hubby, new pup, and somehow find time for myself.

  7. What a timely post! I love reading everyone else’s goals – it’s so inspiring.

    We had a surprise growth spurt in mid-2010 and ended up with two new and fantastic folks supporting us. As a result, our 2011 goals are lofty and mostly aimed toward keeping what is now our core team intact. 🙂

    Our other big goal for the year is community involvement – I’m a member of a group of local women entrepreneurs, and in 2011 we hope to start a small conference and resource bank for fellow women entrepreneurs (and aspiring ones!) in our area (western New York State).

  8. My goal for 2011 is to finally take the big plunge and start an online Japanese fabric (and paper at some point, I hope) shop. I have been dreaming about it for years, but I have let fear and all sorts of worries hinder this project. I feel it’s time to put my passion for Japanese patterns, and fabric and paper in general into action !
    So for me, 2011 is about starting this business. I’m a little terrified, and very excited too 😉

    Reach 1000 sales on Etsy by Dec 30th 2011
    Be working with 10 new stores wholesaling my work
    Be featured in 5 publications – Vogue ****
    Make 1 video a month
    Blog at least tice a week

    The tools I am working with on my crusade are:
    A diary with page to view
    Craft MBA’s Guide to wholesale & trade shows
    Scoutie Girl’s 52 weeks of bloggin your passion
    Seth Godin’s Purple Cow

  10. This year I need to transition out of my home studio to an outside studio. The move is several states away, so I’m a bit at a loss…advice on locating artist friendly (affordable) work space for a noisy jeweler would be so helpful! Perhaps also the benefits of working in a collective or shared space? Insurance considerations, etc…?

    On a side note, I was so thrilled when I found this blog. Keep up the great content in 2011, 2010 was great!

  11. If sales are higher than that your business must live with the old two-year carryback rules….. There are special rules if your business does not operate on a calendar year. If your business operates on a fiscal year you will have the option of using the five-year carryback for the loss that occurred in the tax year that ended in 2008 or the one that starts in 2008 and ends in 2009.

  12. I am a knitter, just start my selling my knitting work(if you call that a business).but i have a goal. which is start my projects shoud be done last year:). hold on there, make more yarn work, let more people enjoy my work.

  13. I have a line of kids apparel in Austin TX called orangeheat.

    My goals for 2011 are to build a stronger social media following to leverage as a marketing tool for my online sales.

    Attend more craft fairs through out the country where ever I can make money or at the very minimum break even.

    Strengthen my product line and discontinue products that are weak and have plenty of inventory of the product that sells

    Hire a bookkeeper and get Quickbooks up and running.

    Add new larger wholesale accounts that will provide more cashflow

    Continue to blog regularly and read books and blogs like this one leaving comments and site links on relevant posts.

    I guess I better get busy! : )
