video inspiration Monday: stop-motion, Vimeo, and the unexpected

There’s only a week left to enter the Crafting an MBA video challenge – but that’s still time to make some great videos!  Here are a few more videos from around the web to get you excited:

Katie from Katie Blair Designs has been rockin’ the video challenge!  I love this stop-motion video she did featuring one of her products:

And speaking of stop-motion, here’s a great Moleskine video showing their new line of bags:

As a creative person, you’ve probably got tons of sketches and process shots – why not create a video that lets people see the thought process behind one of your designs?

I’m now a little obsessed with all the videos on Bocci’s Vimeo stream:

We’ve been focusing on YouTube for the video challenge because YouTube has the most reach.  (It is the second largest search engine on the Internet.)  But it’s not the only video hosting site around.  Vimeo is great because it allows you to upload longer videos than YouTube, and I think it has a nicer aesthetic.  When you’re creating your videos, it can’t hurt to upload them to both YouTube and Vimeo.

And here’s one more from Bocci (told you I was obsessed):

And finally, don’t be afraid to be a little quirky or unexpected in your videos. Here’s one for a camera shop that makes me wonder how the world would be different if we all shot cameras instead of guns:

You’ve probably noticed that a lot of the videos I shared today were produced by a professional production company. On Thursday, I’ll be talking about creating a strategy for your video marketing, including when is the right time to hire a pro versus shooting everything yourself. (Hint: it all depends on your goals!)

Now that you’ve been sufficiently inspired, head out and make some videos!  (And don’t forget to upload them to YouTube with the tag “craftMBA”.)

And if you want to see what other people have been producing for the challenge, we’ve put together a playlist featuring all the videos.  Check it out!

  1. Fabulous videos…I can see how a simple video can make such a great first impression on a potential customer…

  2. I agree with Linda, starting to realise just how much of an impact video has. They say a photo speaks a 1000 words. Well gosh, videos says all that a bunch times over. I love your Why Steel video Megan. I was convinced once I saw that. I probably won’t make the weeks deadline, but creating a video is now on my to-do list. Thanks for all your tip sharing and how-to’s to make that possible.

  3. Thanks for including my video, Megan! There is some awesome inspiration here — I just love that Moleskine video. It’s definitely something to aspire to.

  4. These are all so great. The Bocci videos are very inspirational! The Camera one is just genius. Love it. Thanks for sharing these. I’ve got to go dust off my video camera now.

  5. I think I’m obsessesed with Bocci now too. Perhaps not the desired effect of this post but – wow, beautiful stuff.

  6. I may also have multiple new obsessions after watching those vids. My oh my. I think I need to lie down! (Am also thinking about how lazy I have been about making a vid…)

  7. Ooooooo. The 19.0 Bocci video really enchanted me. I love when he said he developed procedures that resulted in form (form of the art piece). Beautiful. Now my head is brimming with ideas.
