taking action + taking great photos

Do you consume lots of business learning but don’t always take action?  In today’s video, I discuss why reading a book, taking an e-course, watching a video, or any other type business learning isn’t useful unless you take ACTION.

In the video, I mention a previous post, Image is Everything, where I talk about the importance of investing in photography.

  1. I really needed to hear that. Thank you. I have already decided what to focus on.

  2. Yes!!
Ok, I’m going to finish up the learning and application of getting videos up on youtube with applicable tags etc.
    Whoot whoot!
Thanks Megan for growing us all 🙂

  3. Another excellent learning lunch with Megan! It’s like you’re in my head – I’ve been thinking about picking up that exact book AND I’ve been noticing how often I start a book, ebook, ecourse, etc… and don’t end up completing it or committing to putting the information into practice. That changes today – thanks again Megan.

  4. Thanks for this type Megan!

Yes I totally agree. Same goes for my huge stack of “how to” botanical art books…..must put them to use.

Awhile ago I bought the e-book Crafting an MBA” so my challenge to myself this week is to finally put together a proper line sheet and finish my product coding system 🙂

Thank for all the info and inspiration.

  5. Taking GREAT photos is literally the thorn in my small biz side!
    But yes Megan,
Actions (or in my case, well photographed products) speak louder than words

    • I’m right there with you Anarnia! My photos have improved, but they still have a ways to go. I’m definitely getting this book & getting to work! Thanks Megan for the suggestion!

  6. You are getting so darn good!! Plus, the reminder to implement all the heady stuff was useful.

  7. It’s like you’re reading my mind. I’ve being thinking a lot about this topic lately. I decided the only way I’m going to get myself to focus is by creating deadlines for my business projects. Even though they are only self-imposed deadlines, they’ll give me a reason to complete a task instead of dragging it out for way too long or jumping to something else. Conversely, it will also let me know when I’ve done enough and that I can take a break without feeling guilty.

Thanks for the book recommendation! This is another area I want to improve and that title seems like it’s just what I need.

  8. Thanks for another great video Megan.
Ironically, it was your post a while back that asked “Could you live on your business income?” that kicked my butt. Since then I bought your Business Growth Planner e-book and put my revenue stream goals into Evernote. Each week I can look at those goals and determine what I need to target. Is my action perfect? No, especially now with final holiday shows that consume my focus. But I’m getting better at writing specific actionable goals to move me forward.
Now that I think about it, I’ve got a collection of books, e-books and webinars that sit on my shelves or in my computer “waiting” for me to listen to them or read them. I will start adding them to my to-do list.
Will also check out the photography book on Amazon. Looks good.

  10. Hi Megan~
This video could not have come at a better time!

I just received the Canon T3i for an early holiday gift and I am hoping this book will really help me learn to take better photos of the line of handcrafted magnets that we produce for my new ETSY shop website, my regular website, and for my wholesale catalogs which I am currently revamping. Thanks Megan for this and other articles I have been reading since discovering your amazing “Designing an MBA.” You really have a gift for making complex things simple and especially for making them pertinent to our crafts industry.
