I’ve been getting a lot of frantic emails, DMs, and questions in Artists & Profit Makers ever since MailChimp and Shopify announced they will no longer integrate with each other over what we’ll call, um, creative differences.
So I wanted to take a quick second and share my thoughts, in case you’re freaking out too!
Now I’ll be honest, my response might change over time, but I thought I’d take a minute to share what I’m doing about it in this moment.
1. I’m not panicking.
Not only is the split not happening for another month and a half, MailChimp has already shared options for third-party apps to handle the integration. And I expect more to spring up as we get closer to the May deadline.
2. I’m not switching platforms.
I love MailChimp. I love Shopify. Does it bum me out that they can’t play nice right now? Yup. Does it mean I’m leaving either? Nope. With everything I’ve built on both platforms, I’m certainly not in the mood to transfer all of that anytime soon. Plus, like I said, there are already third-party apps for the integration, and I expect more to come down the pipeline.
3. I’m not doing anything yet.
As I mentioned, the split isn’t happening until May. And I have a feeling the best integration solutions haven’t even been created yet. So for now, I’m taking a deep breath, ignoring all the chaos, and just focusing on the actual work of running my businesses. (Oh, and writing a new ebook. Because that’s something I decided to start this week, too.)
Come May, I’ll sit down and figure out what the best solution is. But for now, I’m not letting this little detail stress me out! Because I really don’t think it’s as big a deal as everyone’s making it out to be!
